Delivering zero waste for Scotland will be the main theme of the Scottish Waste & Resources Conference 2009. The two-day conference and exhibition, with keynote speakers including Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment, Richard Lochhead MSP and Malcolm Ward , Chairman of the Environmental Services Association. The conference programme will look at the challenge of meeting the tough targets set by the Scottish Government in its "zero waste" strategy, including increasing recycling to 70 percent and cutting municipal waste sent to landfill to five percent by 2025. The newly launched programme, will cover a wide range of issues, from food waste to carbon coaching, and delegates will be able to hear about a number of projects that have demonstrated positive results, as well as having the opportunity to continue to shape the future direction of strategy and policy for waste management in Scotland.
